Its really easy to find the empty/tare weight of a tote bin. Tote bins, also called Intermediate Bulk Containers or IBCs for short, are required to list their tare weight in their U/N number. You can find the tare weight by looking at the last number followed by kg in the U/N number sequence.
In general, this number is between 52 and 62 kg equating to a tare weight between 114-136 lbs. To find the weight of material contained by the IBC you’d subtract the tare weight from the total measured weight of the IBC. This can be helpful when you would like to measure the weight of the liquid inside the IBC without emptying it.
